Consultant, Advanced Analytics
In March 2013, I received my M.S. in Applied Mathematics from UC Davis. I was living in Columbus OH at the time, and I wanted to find a job locally. I wanted to start a career in analytics, but had no job experience in this area. I spent a little over a year applying to analytics positions through company websites and job search sites like Monster. I often received phone and in person interviews for positions that would have been a good match for me, but never landed the job. Feedback from these interviews highlighted my lack of job experience compared to other candidates.
In the Spring of last year, I became part of the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. program at Jewish Family Services. Tina Gray helped me to revise my resume and keep my head in the game. When I received an interview request for a “perfect fit” job at Cardinal Health, she and others at Jewish Family Services helped me hone my interviewing skills. In the days leading up to the interview, I went to Jewish Family Services for a mock interview and received many helpful comments that helped me prepare. As a result, I was hired as a “Consultant, Advanced Analytics” at the end of August. I feel strongly that my time at Jewish Family Services made a difference and helped me get this position!
