Services to the Jewish Community
The following programs and services are designed to help
individuals and families in the Columbus Jewish community who
are struggling with a variety of needs, including but not
limited to educational, financial and dependency issues.
- Jewish Family Services administers (for the Columbus Jewish
Foundation) the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) to help
students who, as a last resort, need a loan to further their
education. The no interest loan is given to qualified Jewish
students who are currently accepted or enrolled in a
post-secondary educational program.

- Bonei Mishpachot (Builders of Families) is a program that
reaches out to Jewish individuals and families who are having a
difficult time meeting their daily needs and do not know how to
find the necessary resources. A Jewish Family Services'
professional outreach worker meets with clients offering in
office and community-based counseling, case management and
emergency financial assistance (through funds provided by the
Columbus Jewish Federation and the Columbus Jewish Foundation).

- The JACS (Jewish Alcoholics Chemically Dependent Persons and
Significant Others) group meetings are coordinated by Jewish
Family Services. The monthly meetings with a community rabbi
offer spiritual guidance for individuals in recovery. For more
information, call 614-559-0124 or

- The Holocaust Survivor program at Jewish Family Services
provides assistance in receiving compensation and reparations.

Material Claims Against Germany) are available to survivors who
meet the Claims Conference criteria. In addition, the agency
offers a quarterly social event - Café Europa - with films,
guest speakers and other forms of entertainment. For more
information, call
614-559-0125 or email
hsp@jfscolumbus.org.
- Jewish Family Services works with the Columbus community
synagogues administering funds (provided by the Columbus Jewish
Federation) for the burial of indigent Jews. For more
