Parenting
Parenting Tip of the Month
Parenting can be a difficult job, particularly when a family or single parent is facing multiple challenges. Through Jewish
Family Services' Help Me Grow program, the agency's Service Coordinators meet with parents, both in the office and in the home,
to help ease the burden for those who meet the following criteria:
- Are currently pregnant or have a child under 3 years of age
- Recently had a baby
- Are having concerns with their child's (3 years and under) ability to walk, talk, hear, see or play
Services for these parents include:
- Teaching pregnant moms how to care for their own bodies to ensure a healthy pregnancy for themselves and their newborn
- Providing support for families who need additional help because of premature birth, health problems or a diagnosed delay
- Answering questions on a child's growth, how to make the home safe for a child, how they can prepare their child for the learning
process and parent education to reduce the probability of child neglect and non-violent parenting techniques
- Providing information and referral to community resources
The Family Based program, for parent(s) with children ages 0-5, offer similar services to those in the Help Me Grow program.

- Offers court advocacy; outreach and linkage; information and referral; case management; and safety planning/emergency services for victims
